He married Rhyna Rowe (born at Lawrence in 1883) in 1901.
They had five sons & two daughters.
Two sons, Benjamin & Albert & a son-in-law, Richard Russell all served in WW2.
Sometimes the surname is spelt with an extra 'G' as Edgington.
Alfred was a hairdresser in Wellington before moving to Levin as a farmer around 1919. He then moved to Plimmerton as a farmer before retiring around 1946.
