Alfred John Ramsbottom ISHERWOOD
Alfred was born in Wellington. He and other members of the family are often known as
Ramsbottom-Isherwood.
He married Ada Shields Born at Newport in 1869) at Christchurch in 1894.
They had 6 daughters & 2 sons. One daughter died in infancy. Two others never married.
Alfred served in WW1 in the Samoan Relief Force. His son William also served in WW1. A grandson, son of William, William Jnr was killed in action in WW2 in 1945.
Alfred was all over NZ, starting in Palmerston Nth, then Lyttelton, Wellington, Petone, Christchurch, Marton, again in Wellington, Lyttelton again, Petone, Levin in 1922 as the Levin Hotel publican, Christchurch and finally Ashburton. Apart from hotelkeeper he was a clerk, and an inspector of factories.
His son, Williams was also the hotelkeeper at a hotel in Otaki in 1935.
