Alfred MUSGROVE

Alfred was born at Bath, England.

He emigrated to NZ in 1862, aged 22.

He married Catherine (Kate) Grant (born at Cork, Ireland in 1858) at Wanganui in 1884.

The Grant family had emigrated to NZ in 1880.

They had four sons & five daughters plus one stillborn. Two of the daughters died in infancy.

One son, Frederick, & one son-in-law, William Killery, served in WW1.

Alfred was a carpenter by trade. By 1890 he was a builder in Foxton, moving to Levin around 1905. By 1908 he was the poundkeeper for Levin Borough Council.

He also signed the 1905 Levin borough petition and the family was included in the unofficial census in association with the petition.
