Arthur was born at Wellington.
He married Arabella Bowler (born at Makara in 1870) at Makara in 1893.
They had 5 daughters & one son, all but one born in Levin.
His son, Lawrence & two son-in-laws, Robert Tait & Frank Newcombe, served in WW1. Lawrence was also enlisted in WW2.
Arthur started as a farmer in Wellington, then moved to Levin around 1896 - still as a farmer, then to Kairanga around 1905.
