Arthur was born in Northampton, England.
His 1st marriage was to Alice Keyworth (born At Birmingham, England in 1857) in 1885.
He came to NZ in 1883, returned to the Uk in 1888 and then came back to NZ in 1901 & purchased a property in Levin.
They had one son & one daughter. The son Arthur Jnr was killed at Gallopoli. The son-in-law John Coulson also served in WW1.
He divorced Alice in 1907.
He married Edith Hodgkinson (nee Canning) in 1913.
Arthur started out as a farmer in Levin & moved to Lower Hutt around 1914 as a manufacturers rep. He retired to Auckland around 1922.
He signed the 1905 Levin township petition & was also included on the unofficial census as a farmer with 4 people & 2 buildings.
