It is not known where Benjamin came from.
He married Jemima Weavers (born at Geraldine in 1869) in 1894.
They had 4 sons & one daughter. One son died in infancy & the daughter died at 17. Another son, Seymour died as a young man when fell under a train.
Benjamin was a bushman, sawmiller and labourer & then he owned his own sawmill at Raetihi. He then became a contractor.
He was in Levin in 1905 when he was recorded on the unofficial census for the 1905 Levin township petition.
