David was born in Halford, Shropshire, England. He was sometimes known as George.
He married Emma Aldridge (born in Cookham, Berkshire, England) in Shannon in 1896.
She was first married to William Hanson in 1888. He died at the young age of 30 by which time they had three children under the age of six.
David & Emma had a son to add to the family.
David first appears on the Electoral Rolls in 1896 as a settler in Levin. By 1914 he is a contractor in Weraroa. His last place of residence was Rina St, Levin.
Both David & Emma signed the "Yes" petition in the 1905 Levin township petition.
One step son, William Hanson, one step son-in-law, Alfred Mason, served in WW1. His son Ronald served in the 3rd Division NZE in WW2.
