Frederick Wennington PINK
Fred was born on the ship (Wennington) just before it landed in Wellington.
He married Rosa Jesen (born at Greytown in 1877) in 1897.
They had 2 daughters & one son all born in Levin.
Both son-in-laws served, Oswald Bramwell in WW1 & Wilfred Hayward in WW2. It's possible his son Ernest also served in WW2.
Fred started a s bootmaker & later a boot importer in Ohau moving to Levin around 1900. He had a shop with the residence on the 2nd floor in Oxford St, Levin, through to around 1943. The original shop was burnt down in 1898 & the 2nd one fire damaged in 1918.
Fred signed the 1905 Levin township petition & was also included on the unofficial census as a bootmaker with 7 people & 2 buildings. It is probable that his mother & in laws lived with the family & they are buried in Levin.
