George was born at Clonakilty, Cork, Ireland.
He emigrated to NZ in 1927.
He married Edith Wright (born at Foxton in 1909) at Foxton in 1934.
They had four sons & two daughters. One of the sons (Tom) is a well known heritage researcher in Levin.
George started his working life in NZ at Glen Orua as a farm labourer. He moved to Foxton around 1943 to work as a textile worker. He then moved to Plimmerton as a sharemilker & then Ohau as a farmer. By 1963 he is in Masterton as a factory worker.
