George was born at Wellington.
He married Agnes Turner (born at Akaroa in 1845) at Sumner Valley in 1865.
They had 6 sons & 4 daughters. Four of the sons died in infancy.
George was a carpenter, then a builder in Christchurch, Hunterville, Levin (from 1914-1919, then Plimmerton.
George & Agnes celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1915. It is believed that they were the first couple in NZ to do so.
George was also a descendant of a younger brother to Sir Francis Drake.
