James was born in England.
He married Emma Ricketts (born at Wellington in 1885) in 1903.

James served in the Boer war & also WW!. He was wounded in France in 1916 & discharged in 1917 as unfir for duties on account of his wounds.
James was a labourer at Ohau in 1905. By 1919 he is now married to Annie & living in Wellington as a labourer.
Emma married a 2nd time to Daniel King. He was a brewer & metal dealer in Wellington. They had one daughter.
Emma married a 3rd time to George Hamon. He was severely injured at Ypres, losing a left arm & leg. However after the war he worked as a bricklayer, gardener & caretaker in Dunedin.
