He married Ethel Atkinson (nee Woollett) (born at Invercargill in 1918) at Levin in 1944.
Ethel had married Henry (Harry) Atkinson in 1940 in Levin. Harry was killed at El Alamein in 1942. His father had died in 1917 as a result of a submarine attack.
Bill & Ethel had 3 daughters.
Bill also served in WW2.
Both he and Harry were bakers by trade. Bill eventually became a cook and then a supervisor.
Bill & Ethel & her parents are all buried in Levin.
Bill parents were originally called von Wishnowsky.
