Thomas was born at Bilston, Staffordshire, England.
He married Matilda Brown (born at Porirua in 1852) in 1870.
They had 4 daughters & six sons. One daughter & two sons died in infancy.
Four of the sons all served in the Boer War & one, Edward, also served in WW1.
Thomas arrived in NZ as a three year old. Most of his working life he was a farmer at Takapu, Tawa before arriving in Levin around 1908. The family lived in the house that Peter Bartholomew built in Roslyn Rd, later well known as the Morgan homestead. The house remained in the family for several generations.
