Walter was born in Wellington.
He married Elizabeth Squire (born Islingon, London, England in 1872) at Palmerston Nth in 1895.
The Squire family emigrated to NZ, arriving in Wellington in Dec 1875.
Walter & Elizabeth had three sons & two daughters. One son, Frank (who was born in Levin), served in WW1. He died at age 23 & his wife remarried. Another son, Alexander served in WW2.
Walter was a painter. He is in Levin from at least 1896 to 1901. He then moves to Ohakune, Whakaronga, Matamata & Wanganui as a farmer. By 1928 he is back to work as a painter in New Plymouth & then finally in Wanganui.
