Walter Henry Harold HUME

Walter was born at Napier.

He married the divorcee Emma Coates (nee Heap) {born c 1869) in 1918.

They had no children.

Emma died in 1954 & in 1966 he married a widow Ella Perrin (nee Shing).

Walter started as a telegraph linesman in Wellington.

He served in WW1 as a sapper for the NZ Engineers in the wireless troop.

In 1919 he moved to Levin as a fish merchant. He then became a billiard saloon proprietor before becoming a horse trainer around 1941.

In 1946 he moved to Trentham as a horse trainer, however Emma stayed in Levin.

He retired around 1957.
