William was born at Wanganui.
He married Clara Scott (born at Antrim, Ireland in 1901) in 1925.
They had three sons, all of whom became accountants.
William served in WW1 & one son, Robert served in WW2.
William started out as a bookseller in Hawera. By 1928 he was a bookseller in Oxford St, Levin where Papers Plus is now today. He retired around 1957. Both he & Clara are buried in Levin.
