William Henry WILSON
William was born at Wolverhapton, Staffordshire, England.
He married Amy James (born at Wellington in 1877) in 1901.
They had one son & one daughter, both born in Levin.
William was a pastry cook, firstly at Ohau then in Levin. He operated at Lot 28 in Oxford St from 1901 to 1910 (where the BNZ & Postie Plus now are) and also on the corner site (Bath & Oxford Sts). He built the three story Arcadia (private) Hotel on this site in 1907. In 1912 there was a large fire on site & eventually the top floor was demolished and the hotel remained in business. In 1928 the whole family moved to Hastings where he went back to to work as a master baker.
After he died his widow returned, with her unmarried daughter to Levin.
